The Crenshaw Sport Bowling Classic (CSBC) & the Marvin Overby Memorial are both USBC Certified Sport Bowling
tournaments held at Crenshaw Lanes on the Florida State University campus in Tallahassee, Florida.
Tournament participants compete on United States Bowling Congress (USBC) compliant "sport patterns".
Sport patterns are very demanding and have traditionally been reserved for the major championships of the PBA tour (i.e.,
the ABC Masters, the US Open, the PBA Tournament of Champions, and the PBA World Championship). However, sport conditions
are also used at various other prestigious events such as those hosted by the International Federation of Bowling
(FIQ), Bowling USA, the Inter-Collegiate bowling championships, and in all USBC sanctioned sport leagues, etc.
Sport conditions in bowling have been compared in difficulty to major championships in golf (ex., where long courses
are often used, with lightning fast greens, thick roughs, narrow fairways, and plenty of obstacles). Thus, sport bowling
provides the ultimate challenge to bowlers of all abilities, from professional to recreational. Despite the difficulty, this
challenge is one which many in the bowling community feel provides a very fair and accurate assessment of
bowling ability. This is why "sport patterns" are the condition of choice at major bowling championships worldwide.
For bowlers unfamiliar with "sport bowling" this tournament provides a unique opportunity to experience sport bowling
first-hand. We look forward to seeing you at the tournament and wish you good luck.
